Andy Cole: Why Man United won’t win Premier League title
Manchester United legend Andrew Cole doesn't believe the Red Devils will challenge for Premier League crown
Manchester United won’t win the Premier League title, according to Red Devils legend Andy Cole.
The Red Devils have signed Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay in the summer transfer window.
Will United do that against the many superior teams they’ll come up against this season? I’m not convinced
Van Gaal has also added Italy defender Matteo Darmian to his squad and Argentina international Sergio Romero.
However, the 20-time English champions have been left frustrated in their search for a centre-half after Sergio Ramos signed a new United deal while Nicolas Otamendi is set to move to Manchester City.
And former United striker Cole believes Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City have superior attacking options to the Red Devils.
Cole wrote on Yahoo Sport: “It’s very early in the season and may seem odd saying it of a team which has won three games and not conceded a goal in the league, but this doesn’t look like a team which will win the title.
“And while the Brugge win was encouraging, United should be beating any Belgian team at home all day long. Like Spurs and Aston Villa, they played well in the first 20 minutes before United got on top.
“Will United do that against the many superior teams they’ll come up against this season? I’m not convinced.”
The Red Devils legend has won five Premier League titles and four FA Cups during his United career.
Cole was also part of Sir Alex Ferguson’s Champions League-winning side at Camp Nou in 1999.
United face Newcastle United in their next Premier League clash at Old Trafford on Saturday.
