Arsenal aren’t consistent enough to win title, says ex-Man United man

Former Man United midfielder Johnny Giles says he wouldn't trust Arsenal in the Premier League title race

Johnny Giles says Arsenal are good enough defensively to win the Premier League title this season.

The Gunners suffered a shock 2-0 loss to West Ham United at Emirates Stadium in their first Premier League game of the campaign last weekend.

Arsenal had been widely tipped to win the Premier League crown after the Gunners signed 33-year-old goalkeeper Petr Cech in an £11m deal from Chelsea.

Speaking to Irish radio show Off The Ball, former Manchester United midfielder Giles isn’t impressed with Arsene Wenger’s defence.

“I don’t trust them. They could win 4-0 or 5-0 next week. But they don’t think they’ll have the consistency defensively to win the Premier League,” Giles told Newstalk.

Arsenal make the trip to London rivals Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in Sunday’s early kick-off.

The Eagles eased to a 3-1 victory over Norwich City at Carrow Road in their first Premier League last Saturday.
