Arsenal transfers: £45m Karim Benzema deal on, claims journalist

Italian journalist claims Arsenal are close to clinching the signing of Karim Benzema from Real Madrid

Arsenal are close to clinching the £45m signing of Karim Benzema from Real Madrid, according to Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli.

The north London side have been heavily linked with a big-money swoop for the France international in recent weeks as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his attacking options at Emirates Stadium during the current transfer window.

The speculation linking Benzema with a transfer to the north London club has continued in recent days, despite Wenger’s public insistence that Arsenal have not made an offer for the player.

Now, journalist Giulianelli has continued to fuel talk of an Arsenal move for Benzema on Friday by claiming that a deal for the France international is close.

Reporter Giulianelli tweeted on Friday:

Arsenal are in Premier League action this weekend when they take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park looking to claim victory after their shock 2-0 loss to West Ham in their season opener last weekend.
