Arsenal transfers: £48m Karim Benzema bid accepted, claims Man City legend
Former Man City star Rodney Marsh says he has been told Real Madrid have accepted Arsenal's £48m offer for Karim Benzema
Arsenal’s £48m offer for Karim Benzema has been accepted by Real Madrid, according to Rodney Marsh.
The Gunners have been relentlessly linked with a big-money swoop to sign the Real Madrid forward in recent days as Arsene Wenger ponders adding to his attacking options at Emirates Stadium.
Reports from Spain suggest that the north London side could be prepare to splash £45m in an attempt to lure the 27-year-old France international to the Premier League, despite Wenger’s public insistence that there is nothing concrete in the reports.
But former Manchester City forward Marsh claimed that he has been told by a close source that the Gunners have moved a step closer to signing Benzema after having a £48m bid accepted.
“I had a phone call from a mate of mine, and he’s been right on many things, and he said that he believes Real Madrid have accepted a bid somewhere in the region of £48million for Benzema from Arsenal,” Marsh talkSPORT.
“In the past this guy has always been right, he’s never been wrong yet, so we’ll have to wait and see.”
Arsenal return to action in the Premier League on Monday night as Liverpool make the trip to The Emirates.
The Gunners were 2-1 winners against Crystal Palace last Sunday after a 2-0 defeat by West Ham United on the opening day of the season.
