Arsenal transfers: Arsene Wenger addresses Mesut Ozil reports
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says Mesut Ozil is happy in London despite reported interest from Besiktas
Arsene Wenger says Mesut Ozil is committed to Arsenal after reports linking the midfielder with a surprise move to Besiktas.
The Turkish club emerged as surprise suitors for the Germany international earlier this week after it was reported in the English media that Besiktas had made an enquiry about Ozil.
The Arsenal midfielder produced one of his best performances for the north London side last Sunday after he helped Wenger’s men battle to a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace.
Speaking at his pre-match media conference on Friday afternoon, Wenger was keen to stress that his club-record signing wouldn’t be leaving The Emirates in the near future.
“He is completely committed to the club. He is focused on getting results,” Wenger said.
Ozil moved to Arsenal in a club-record £42.5m deal from Real Madrid in 2013.
The World Cup winner has helped Arsenal to win back-to-back FA Cup crowns.
