Arsenal transfers: Arsene Wenger responds to Grzegorz Krychowiak reports
Arsene Wenger says Arsenal are not interested in signing Grzegorz Krychowiak from Sevilla this summer
Arsene Wenger has poured cold water on reports claiming that Arsenal are interested in signing Grzegorz Krychowiak from Sevilla this summer.
The Gunners were thought to be keeping tabs on the 25-year-old defensive midfielder as Wenger considers bolstering his squad ahead of the close of the current transfer window.
The north London side were this week reported to be preparing a £22m bid to try and lure the Poland international to Emirates Stadium.
However, Wenger emphatically denied that Arsenal were interested in the player when quizzed about the transfer speculation on Friday morning.
Asked if Arsenal are interested in signing Krychowiak, Wenger simply told a news conference at Arsenal’s training ground: “No.”
The Frenchman did, however, insist that Arsenal remain “open” to making further signings ahead of the close of the transfer window at the end of the month.
“We were as open before that result as after. We are working hard and focused on what can strengthen our squad.
“The availability is not big.
“Now it is important we focus on our game on Sunday.”
Arsenal have so far only signed goalkeeper Petr Cech from Chelsea this summer.
