Arsenal transfers: Thierry Henry calls for more signings
Thierry Henry feels that Arsenal still have work to do during the summer transfer window
Thierry Henry has called for Arsene Wenger to bring in “one or two” more players during the summer transfer window to transform Arsenal into genuine Premier League title contenders.
The north London club wrapped up their pre-season preparations in style on Sunday as they beat Chelsea 1-0 in the Community Shield at Wembley.
Many are tipping Arsenal, who finished third and won the FA Cup last season, to have a major say in the title race during the 2015-16 campaign.
And although Arsenal legend Henry believes that the north London side have what it takes to mount a serious title bid, the former striker believes that the Gunners are still short of a couple of players.
“I think that Arsenal can have a chance [of winning the title]. Why? Because if they can find the consistency they’ve been lacking and make sure they don’t get any injuries [they can challenge],” said Henry, speaking at the launch of The Sun Dream Team in London on Tuesday night.
“I still think they’re short of one or two players but they are showing at the moment that they can [challenge].”
Arsenal have been heavily linked with a big-money bid for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema in recent weeks.
Henry was also asked about the criticism of Mesut Ozil since his arrival at the club back in the summer of 2013.
“At some point you have to look at stats. Question answered,” he said.
The Gunners kick off their Premier League campaign with a home clash against West Ham United on Sunday.
