Arsene Wenger reveals date for Alexis Sanchez Arsenal return

Arsene Wenger says Alexis Sanchez will be ready to feature for Arsenal in around 10 days

Arsene Wenger says Alexis Sanchez should be fit to return to action for Arsenal in around 10 days following his extended summer holiday.

The Chile international returned to training at the Gunners’ London Colney complex this week after being given an extended break following his involvement in the Copa America.

Sanchez, who is set to miss Arsenal’s Premier League opener against West Ham on Sunday, is now working on his fitness as he bids to regain his top form during the 2015-16 campaign.

And Wenger believes that the 26-year-old will be ready to return to action in approximately 10 days.

Speaking at his pre-match news conference at London Colney on Friday morning, Wenger said: “He came back in good shape and should be available to play in 10 days.

“He played a World Cup, played a whole season, the Copa America and cannot start the season.”

Sanchez endured a gruelling debut campaign in England after joining Arsenal from Barcelona last summer, helping Wenger’s men finish third and retain their FA Cup crown before his involvement in the Copa America.
