Arsene Wenger: Where Alexis Sanchez can improve for Arsenal
Arsene Wenger says Alexis Sanchez still has plenty of room for improvement at Arsenal
Arsene Wenger believes that Alexis Sanchez still has plenty of room for improvement at Arsenal, despite his impressive form for the north London club.
The Chile international has been one of the Premier League’s standout performers in recent months since his arrival at the club from Barcelona last summer.
Sanchez scored 25 goals in all competitions for the north London club in his debut campaign at Emirates Stadium.
However, Wenger feels that the Chile international is capable of improving his form in front of goal for the Gunners in the weeks and months ahead.
Speaking at a news conference on Friday morning, Wenger told reporters: “He is already better than when he arrived. In his final finishing there is room for improvement, in his final ball he is already much better, his vision is quite good and incisive.
“He has that desire to go forward and provoke. He is a guy who provokes chaos in the defences because he has a go at you.
“He does not go across, he goes straight. His desire to go forward, to provoke opponents, to run at people, creates danger.
“I have had players like that but he has the style. What Sanchez has is that in the first two yards he is lightning quick. He has that explosive attitude linked with his spirit. That makes him even more spectacular.”
Sanchez endured a gruelling debut campaign in England after joining Arsenal from Barcelona last summer, helping Wenger’s men finish third and retain their FA Cup crown before his involvement in the Copa America.
He will be expecting to feature when Arsenal host Liverpool in the Premier League at Emirates Stadium on Monday night.
