Former QPR midfielder Joey Barton says Jose Mourinho has Arsene Wenger on toast despite losing Community Shield

Arsene Wenger finally got one over rival Jose Mourinho at the 14th attempt on Sunday as Arsenal were 1-0 winners against Chelsea in the Community Shield.

The Blues manager sportingly waited for the Gunners to descend the Wembley terraces after the north London side had collected their latest piece of silverware.

Unsurprisingly, the incident sparked a flurry of tweets, and here is the best of the Twitter action from the professionals, past and present.

Former Manchester United man Alan Tonge ‏(@Alan_Tonge) isn’t impressed with Wenger’s immature approach: “Poor from Wenger. Babyish.”

Meanwhile, Troy Townsend ‏(@Towno10) reckons Mourinho has managed to get the psychological advantage despite losing the Community Shield: “Mourinho has got to Wenger already!!”

Retired Chelsea midfielder Jody Morris ‏(@morriskid) points out the obvious: “No love lost between the two bosses”

Former Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joseph Barton ‏(@Joey7Barton) agrees with Townsend and reckons Mourinho had got the upper hand over Wenger: “Love big custard pie for Mourinho from Wenger? Proves Jose has got him on toast mentally that.”

Retired Wigan Atheltic goalkeeper Mike Pollitt ‏(@MikePollitt12) is coming down on the Arsenal manager’s side: “Brilliant Wenger!!”

Finally, Crystal Palace legend Mark Bright ‏(@Mark__Bright) is already love the pitch side entertainment: “Hand shake or not, right or wrong, football is entertainment, I think the fans love it. #WengerJose let the season commence #BPL”
