Charlie Nicholas: Man United will find it difficult against Brugge
Arsenal legend Charlie Nicholas warns Manchester United to expect a tough encounter against Brugge
Manchester United will find it tough against Club Brugge in the second leg of their Champions League play-off, according to Charlie Nicholas.
The Red Devils travel to Belgium after a 3-1 victory over Brugge in the first leg at Old Trafford last week courtesy of goals from Memphis Depay and Marouane Fellaini.
The 20-time English champions struggled to recreate that performance in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon after a goalless draw with Newcastle United.
And former Arsenal midfielder Nicholas reckons Louis van Gaal’s side will do enough to progress but will find it a struggle against their Belgian opponents.
“I think United will find it tough again because, as we know, they are not playing well and are finding goals and chances hard to come by,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.
“However, I still think they’ll be menacing enough and for that I think they’ll get a draw after winning the first leg.”
United were 1-0 winners against Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa in their opening two Premier League games of the season.
Van Gaal has signed five players in the summer transfer window so far.
The Dutchman snapped up Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin, Matteo Darmian, Depay and Sergio Romero.
