Chelsea 0 Fiorentina 1: Player ratings as Mourinho’s men struggle

Player ratings as Chelsea slump to a 1-0 defeat by Fiorentina in their final pre-season friendly at Stamford Bridge

Asmir Begovic Got down well early on to deny Matias Fernandez but never looked entirely comfortable on his first appearance at Stamford Bridge as a Chelsea player. Was powerless to stop Gonzalo Rodriguez from tapping home as the Italian side took the lead in the first half. 5/10

Juan Cuadrado Caught in possession a few times in a disappointing display for the Colombian, whose future at the club has been a subject of speculation. 5

Kurt Zouma Solid and unspectacular alongside both Terry and Cahill in the heart of the Blues’ defence. Booked late on for carelessly clattering Ricardo Bagadur. 6

John Terry Not much to do during a quiet first half for both defences, aside from the visitors’ goal. Subbed at half-time. 5

Ola Aina Got forward a couple of times but not to much effect. 4

John Obi Mikel Trudged back into his midfield position after horribly mistiming a volley midway through the first half. Replaced at half-time. 5

Ruben Loftus-Cheek Had a shot blocked in the 11th minute after working himself into a good position and looked bright before being taken off in the second half. 6

Bertrand Traore Not a great display. Crossed into stands under no pressure midway through the first half and gave a number of sloppy free-kicks away in midfield. Off at half-time. 5

Oscar Blasted a free-kick over the bar in the 25th minute. The Brazilian, linked with a move away from Chelsea this summer, failed to click into gear and link up effectively with Falcao. Hit a couple of decent set-piece deliveries in Fabregas’ absence. 6

Victor Moses Looked sharp and keen to prove a point following his loan spell at Stoke City. Got into a couple of good threatening positions and was Chelsea’s liveliest player in what was a dire first half in west London. Came off early in the second half with what appeared to be an eye injury. 7

Radamel Falcao Quiet home debut for the Colombian. He didn’t threaten the Fiorentina goal – but it was difficult for him to make an impact in such a poor all-round display from Chelsea. 5

Substitutes:

Cesar Azpilicueta Not involved a great deal. 5

Gary Cahill Slotted in comfortably alongside Zouma. Scooped a shot past the post midway through the second half. 6

Nemanja Matic Patrolled the area in front of Chelsea’s defence well. 6

Branislav Ivanovic Headed Oscar’s free-kick just wide early in the second half but was offside anyway.

Ramires Solid display. 6

Cesc Fabregas Linked up well with Hazard in the second half. Disappointing deliveries from set-pieces. 6

Eden Hazard Showed glimpses of last season’s form but still looks to be lacking a bit of sharpness. Couldn’t quite spark a dire game into life. 6

Willian Worked hard but careless in possession a couple of times. 5

Loic Remy Didn’t improve on his disappointing Community Shield display. His only chance came when he fired well wide from a good position in the 86th minute. 4
