Chelsea academy duo discuss what it’s like facing Eden Hazard in training
Youngsters Charlie Colkett and John Swift on what it's like to face Chelsea's PFA player of the year
Chelsea academy duo Charlie Colkett and John Swift have lifted the lid on what it’s like facing Eden Hazard in training on a regular basis.
The pair were speaking at the JD Football Takeover at adidas BaseBrixton earlier this month and singled out the Belgian playmaker as the most skilful player they have ever come up against.
You can’t get near him when he’s on the ball
Colkett, 18, didn’t hesitate when asked to pick the star of Chelsea’s current first-team.
“It’s definitely got to be Eden Hazard in training,” Colkett said. “He’s electric.”
And Colkett’s Blues team-mate Swift, 20, agreed with his assessment. “Hazard definitely. He’s a great player,” said Swift.
“You can’t get near him when he’s on the ball.
“I wouldn’t say it’s tricks, he moves his body and puts his body in the way and you can’t get the ball, then he takes it round you.”
Hazard was in top form for Chelsea last season as the Blues won the League Cup and Premier League in Jose Mourinho’s second season back in charge at Stamford Bridge.
The former Lille star was named the PFA player of the year as he scored 19 goals in all competitions for the west London club.
Hazard will be expecting to feature when Chelsea take on Crystal Palace in their next Premier League game this weekend.
