Ex-Chelsea star slams ‘weak link’ Cesc Fabregas
Paul Canoville criticises Cesc Fabregas for failing to produce consistent performances for Chelsea
Paul Canoville has described Cesc Fabregas as a “weak link” in the Chelsea side and claims that the midfielder rarely performs after the hour-mark for the Blues.
The 28-year-old Spain international enjoyed an impressive debut campaign at the Stamford Bridge outfit following his summer transfer from Barcelona last year.
Former Arsenal captain Fabregas notched up 18 assists for his team-mates as he helped Jose Mourinho’s men win the Premier League and lift the League Cup.
However, Fabregas came in for some criticism towards the end of last season for failing to produce consistent performances for the west London club.
And former Chelsea winger Canoville has criticised the former Arsenal star for the level of his performances for the Blues so far this season.
Canoville told Kicca: “I’m concerned about Cesc Fabregas, he only seems to last about an hour in the game and then he’s non-existent.
“You can’t get away with that in this league. Everyone knows what he can do and what he possesses but you need to be doing it for at least 80 minutes. I think he might have turned into a weak link.
“Fabregas isn’t the same player as when he was at Arsenal or Barcelona and it’s a weakness that Jose has got to see and look at fixing.”
Fabregas played the full 90 minutes as Chelsea beat West Bromwich Albion 3-2 at The Hawthorns on Sunday to return to winning ways after their defeat by Manchester City.
