Five of Chelsea signing Pedro’s best goals for Barcelona
Here are five of the best goals from Chelsea signing Pedro Rodriguez during his Barcelona career
1) Barcelona v Sevilla, 2015
It is well known that Pedro has scored some crucial goals during his time at Barcelona. The most recent came in the nine-goal thriller between Barcelona and Sevilla for the European Super Cup. Pedro scored the extra-time winner to hand Barcelona the cup. It was noted in the celebrations that he did not include himself. However, nothing was taken away from the spectacular late goal he scored after he rebounded the free-kick into the back of the net to seal the Barca win.
2) Barcelona v Manchester United, 2011
It has been recognised that if Pedro opens the scoring, goals from the rest of the Barcelona team follow. It was in the Champions League final in 2011 that Pedro broke the deadlock against Manchester United. Barcelona won 3-1 to lift the trophy after Pedro scored the opener with a great first touch, composure and a right-footed shot in the penalty area. It was a superb assist from Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez, too. Pedro has scored goals that will live long in the memories of FCB fans.
3) Barcelona v Shakhtar Donetsk, 2009
Extra-time winners were things of beauty for the Spain international at Barcelona. It was once again in the Uefa Super Cup in 2009 that Pedro captured the cup for the Catalan club in extra-time with the only goal of the game. Barca kept applying the pressure to FC Shakhtar Donetsk, and it was once again Pedro who won the silverware. Lionel Messi wriggled through the Shakhtar defence and Pedro with another delightful right footed shot into the bottom corner for the 24-minute goal in extra-time. Having played for the club the whole of his senior career, scoring goals of this nature was nothing short of specular for the players, managers and fans.
4) Barcelona v Estudiantes, 2009
Barca played Estudiantes in the Club World Cup in 2009, and the game saw another wonder goal from Pedro. Barcelona were on the verge of losing the cup to Estudiantes when in the 89th minute, Pedro scored the equaliser to send the tie into extra time. Messi won the final for Barca to win the cup. Crucial goals are in Pedro’s vocabulary on the pitch. He knows what is expected of him in order to ensure medals and trophies. It was a fantastic header in the penalty area and Pedro celebrated with complete love for the club.
5) Barcelona v Real Madrid, 2010
Pedro has been involved in many El Clasicos but nothing can beat the feeling when you score a goal that means you beat your closest rivals. It was in 2010 that Pedro scored an absolute blinder to hand Real Madrid’s manager at the time Jose Mourino a 5-0 thrashing. Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona scored five past Iker Casillas on the club’s 111th anniversary. Barca and Pedro completely outplayed Real Madrid from the start and it was to be a perfect night at Camp Nou as Pedro scored in the 54th minute.
