Former Liverpool defender excited by Nathaniel Clyne and Joe Gomez
Former Liverpool defender Rob Jones runs rule over full-backs Nathaniel Clyne and Joe Gomez
Rob Jones knows a thing or two about the pressure of being a Liverpool full-back, but the retired defender is clearly loving Brendan Rodgers’s new-look back four.
The Northern Irishman signed Nathaniel Clyne in a £11.5m deal from Southampton in the summer transfer window, and the England defender has slotted seamlessly into the Liverpool defence.
However, Joe Gomez has been the big surprise package after the 18-year-old helped Liverpool keep clean sheets in their opening three Premier League games, barely putting a foot wrong since his move from Charlton Athletic.
And Jones, who won the FA Cup and League Cup before a serious knee injury cut his career short, took to Twitter to speak about his excitement over the Liverpool full-backs.
Also looking forward to watching our 2 young fullbacks @J_Gomez97 and @Nathaniel_Clyne #LFC

Jones, who represented England eight times during his playing career, also tipped Liverpool to ease to a 3-1 victory over West Ham United at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
Going to stick my neck out today and say 3-1 to @LFC .. Hope I not getting too excited because I am going the game 😁 #LFC
