Gary Neville backs Man United manager Louis van Gaal despite transfer concerns

Manchester United legend Gary Neville discusses Louis van Gaal's transfer activity this summer

Gary Neville insists he is behind Louis van Gaal despite questioning Manchester United’s transfer activity under the Dutchman.

The Red Devils have spent almost £250m on new signings which includes £59.7m flop Angel di Maria since Van Gaal took charge of the Red Devils in May 2013.

The United manager is expected to take his spending beyond £100m this summer with Monaco forward Anthony Martial widely-tipped to complete a £36m move to Old Trafford.

And former Red Devils defender Neville took to Twitter to highlight what he believes to be a strong United starting line-up from their players at Van Gaal’s disposal when the 64-year-old took charge 16 months ago.

Invariably, some United supporters questioned whether Neville believes Van Gaal is the right man to lead United forward following the retired defender’s recent criticism of the Red Devils.

But the Sky Sports pundit was quick to issue his backing for the United manager.
