James Milner: These are exciting times for Liverpool
James Milner believes it is an exciting time for Liverpool after their unbeaten start to the season
James Milner says it is an exciting time for Liverpool after their unbeaten start to the Premier League season.
The Reds secured a battling goalless draw with top-four rivals Arsenal in their most-recent outing at The Emirates on Monday night.
Liverpool have secured seven points from their opening three Premier League games, including successive clean sheets.
And Milner, who captained Liverpool in the absence of injured Jordan Henderson in north London, reflected on a strong start to their season.
“We will see at the end of the season, won’t we? I think it is an exciting time to be at the club. There have obviously been a lot of changes on and off the field in the summer and I think it will take time to get to our best,” Milner told The Mirror.
“But to start the season like we have is pleasing.
“We don’t want to put any targets on it, but the longer we get into this season and the more we play together, you will see us improve more and more.”
Milner joined Liverpool in a free transfer from Manchester City earlier this summer.
The England international, who won two Premier League titles during his career at The Etihad, was one of eight summer arrivals at Anfield.
Brendan Rodgers also signed Christian Benteke in a £32.5m deal from Aston Villa, Roberto Firmino arrived in a £29m move from Hoffenheim, whilst Joe Gomez, Nathaniel Clyne, Adam Bogdan, Danny Ings and Divock Origi all linked up with the squad.
