Jose Mourinho delivers latest Chelsea injury update on Diego Costa
Diego Costa could miss the start of the season due to a hamstring injury, Jose Mourinho reveals
Jose Mourinho admits that Diego Costa could miss the start of the season due to injury due to a problem with the Chelsea striker’s hamstring.
The Spain international was left out of the Chelsea side to face Arsenal in the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday after picking up the injury during pre-season.
And the Chelsea manager has revealed that Costa could miss Swansea’s trip to Stamford Bridge in the Premier League next weekend due to the hamstring issue.
Mourinho told BT Sport before Sunday’s Community Shield clash with Arsenal: “I don’t know if Diego Costa will be available for the start of the season
“He had a little problem after the Barcelona game. After that he was training normally and we thought he would be ready, but this morning he was feeling uncomfortable.”
Costa was Chelsea’s top scorer last season after netting 20 Premier League goals but missed the latter stages of the 2014-15 campaign due to a hamstring injury.
He helped Chelsea beat Tottenham in March to win the League Cup.
The Brazilian-born forward joined the Blues from Atletico Madrid last summer after helping the Spanish side win La Liga and reach the Champions League final.
