Liverpool defender Joe Gomez ‘disappointed’ with Arsenal stalemate

Liverpool defender Joe Gomez reflects on a goalless draw with Arsenal at Emirates Stadium

Joe Gomez admitted Liverpool were disappointed not to take maximum points from their trip to The Emirates after a stalemate with Arsenal on Monday night.

Liverpool had chances to break the deadlock in the first half but Arsenal’s summer signing Petr Cech first denied Christian Benteke before he tipped Philippe Coutinho’s shot onto the woodwork.

Arsenal had a goal disallowed early in the encounter before France striker Olivier Giroud and midfielder Aaron Ramsey tested Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet after the interval.

Gomez, who moved to Liverpool from Charlton Athletic in a £5m deal this summer, took to Twitter to reflect on the result after the 18-year-old produced another mature performance in the Reds defence.

The Reds travelled to north London fresh from back-to-back clean sheets in the Premier League after 1-0 victories over Stoke City and Bournemouth.
