Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet lifts lid on chat with Arsenal star Petr Cech
Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet shared a joke with Arsenal number one Petr Cech after 0-0 draw at The Emirates
Simon Mignolet has lifted the lid on his post-match chat with Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech after a stalemate at Emirates Stadium.
The Belgium international produced saves to deny Arsenal duo Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey, although the Welsh midfielder had the ball in the net in the first half but it was ruled out for offside.
Arsenal goalkeeper Cech, who moved to the Gunners from Chelsea in an £11m deal this summer, made a close-range stop from Christian Benteke before he tipped Philippe Coutinho’s shot onto the woodwork.
And Liverpool number one Mignolet revealed the pair shared a joke after full-time at The Emirates last night.
“He asked me why I didn’t let one in, and I said the same to him!” Mignolet told Liverpool’s website.
“The important thing was we [Liverpool] put in a great performance. Everybody did their jobs really well again and we didn’t give much away.
“The defenders and the entire 11 did their jobs at set pieces, so we’re pleased with that and we have to keep it going.”
Liverpool have kept three successive clean sheets after 1-0 victories over Stoke City and Bournemouth in their opening Premier League games of the season.
The Reds welcome struggling West Ham United to Anfield in their next Premier League game on Saturday afternoon.
