Liverpool striker Christian Benteke reflects on great start after wonder goal

Liverpool striker Christian Benteke is delighted with his first goal for the Reds in a 2-1 win against Swindon Town on Sunday

Christian Benteke was delighted to start his Liverpool career with a goal after he scored a wonder strike in a 2-1 win against Swindon Town.

The Belgium international controlled a high cross on his chest before he unleashed a powerful volley in the second half to break the deadlock at City Ground.

Benteke became Liverpool’s second most-expensive signing in history after he completed a £32.5m move to Anfield from Aston Villa last month.

And the Liverpool signing took to Twitter after he opened his Reds account in sensational fashion.

Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno, who moved to Merseyside from Sevilla in a £12m deal last summer, was similarly ecstatic to prepare for next week’s trip to Stoke City with a friendly win.

The Reds start their league campaign with a tricky clash against the Potters at The Britannia.
