Man City will beat Man United to Pedro signing, says Johnny Giles
Johnny Giles reckons Man City have a good chance of beating Man United to signing of Barcelona star Pedro Rodriguez
Johnny Giles says he wouldn’t be surprised if Manchester City manage to pip Manchester United to the signing of Pedro Rodriguez.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move for the Spain international in recent weeks following Angel di Maria’s move to Paris Saint-Germain.
However, Chelsea and City have entered the race to sign the Barcelona midfielder, who has fallen out-of-favour at Camp Nou under Luis Enrique.
Former United midfielder reckons Manuel Pellegrini could beat his fellow Premier League rivals to the 27-year-old’s signature as he attempts to bolster his attacking options.
“He might be a good fit for Man City yet. I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes to Man City. They’d be getting one over their neighbours and they need a centre-forward,” Giles told Newstalk.
“I’ve never noticed him that much over the years. He doesn’t seem to have played that much. They have Neymar, Suarez and Messi.
“He has to be a good player to play for Barcelona. He has played in the Spain team, too. I wouldn’t be able to say he is a terrific signing.”
Giles added that United desperately need to sign a striker to support Red Devils captain Wayne Rooney over the course of the campaign.
Louis van Gaal’s side were 1-0 winners against Tottenham Hotspur in their Premier League opener.
