Man United star Bastian Schweinsteiger reveals Marouane Fellaini’s kind gesture

Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is happy to be wearing No31 after Marouane Fellaini vacated the number

It is no wonder Bastian Schweinsteiger already feels at home at Old Trafford.

The Manchester United midfielder has proven an instant fans’ favourite after back-to-back cameo appearances in wins against Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.

Schweinsteiger was handed the No31 shirt following his £15m move to United from Bayern Munich earlier this summer.

And it appears Belgium international Marouane Fellaini went out of his way to make Schweinsteiger feel welcome after he vacated the shirt number, which has special significance for the World Cup winner.

Schweinsteiger told United’s website:

Fellaini, who enjoyed a strong second of the 2014/15 season after coming into favour under Louis van Gaal, will wear the No28 shirt this season.

Schweinsteiger won a staggering eight Bundesliga titles and seven German Cups during a glittering career at Bayern.

The midfielder also won the Champions League in 2012 to add to his World Cup triumph in Brazil two years later.
