Man United transfers: Pedro Rodriguez told to ‘follow his heart’
Dani Alves urges Pedro Rodriguez to 'follow his heart' amid the speculation linking him with Manchester United
Dani Alves has urged Pedro Rodriquez to “follow his heart” as the Barcelona forward continues to be linked with a summer transfer to Manchester United.
The Red Devils are thought to be keen on luring the Spain international to Old Trafford before the close of the transfer window and are reported to be ready to pay the player’s £22m release clause.
If you feel you’re not wanted at a club you have to go
United have been heavily linked with a bid for Pedro in recent days as Louis van Gaal looks to bolster his attacking line-up at Old Trafford following the departures of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao.
Now, Pedro’s Barcelona team-mate Alves has urged the 28-year-old to do what feels right to him, although the Brazilian admitted that he would be keen to see him stay at Camp Nou.
“Ultimately the decisions don’t come to me, they are for other people,” Alves said, speaking at a news conference ahead of Tuesday’s Uefa Super Cup.
“The more people interfere, the harder the decision is. Of course if I had to make the decision it would be for him to stay here for many more years.
“It’s down to him and his heart but if he stays we’ll be delighted, if not we’ll respect his decision.
“If you feel you’re not wanted at a club you have to go. Let’s hope he doesn’t make that decision.”
United kicked off their Premier League campaign with a 1-0 home victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils are next in action when they take on Aston Villa in the Premier League on Friday night.
