Man United transfers: Insider says he’d be ‘amazed’ if Red Devils don’t sign striker
Gary Neville says he'd be 'amazed' if Manchester United didn't sign a new striker before Tuesday's deadline
Gary Neville admits that he would be “amazed” if Manchester United did not bring in a new striker before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
The Red Devils slumped to a disappointing 2-1 loss to Swansea City in the Premier League on Sunday as Louis van Gaal’s men suffered their first top-flight defeat of the new season.
Much has been made of United’s lack of cover up front this season following the departures of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao, as well as the exit of Danny Welbeck last summer.
The Red Devils have been linked with a host of strikers during the course of the summer transfer window as Van Gaal considers bolstering his attacking options ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.
And speaking on Sky Sports in the wake of Sunday’s defeat at the Liberty Stadium, Neville insisted that he fully expecting United to bring in a new forward, after Javier Hernandez was left on the bench for the loss to the Swans.
Former United defender Neville said on Sky Sports: “Van Gaal didn’t like Javier Hernandez from day one.
“I will be absolutely amazed if Manchester United don’t now sign a striker in the next 24 to 48 hours.”
The transfer window closes at 18:00 BST on Tuesday.
