Man United transfers: Louis van Gaal gives David De Gea update
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is adamant David De Gea won't be leaving Old Trafford this summer
Louis van Gaal says David De Gea will not be leaving Manchester United before the end of the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils have been facing a battle to keep hold of their player of the year throughout the summer amid continued interest from 10-time European champions Real Madrid.
De Gea hasn’t started a game for United so far this season after the Red Devils boss opted to go with summer signing Sergio Romero amid all the speculation surrounding the Spaniard.
And the 64-year-old boss, who took charge of United in May 2014, revealed that De Gea won’t be leaving Old Trafford in the current transfer window.
“I think when Manchester United wants a player he shall come, besides when a club is not selling,” Van Gaal told his pre-match media conference.
“It is the same with us. We are not selling De Gea.”
The 24-year-old shot stopper has just under 24 months remaining on his current United deal, which means Madrid could sign the goalkeeper on a free transfer in less than 18 months.
