Man United transfers: Louis van Gaal gives potential signings update
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is tight-lipped on potential summer signings before transfer window shuts
Louis van Gaal has reiterated his confidence in his current squad by rebuffing reporters’ attempts to get an update on potential signings.
The Dutchman brought in five new faces during the course of July, but has failed to add more despite the club being linked with many high profile targets.
Most recently, United missed out on the chance to bring Pedro to Old Trafford, with the former Barcelona man opting to join Jose Mourinho at Chelsea instead.
“You have to wait and see. There’s no pressure for me – we have 28 players,” Van Gaal told his pre-match media conference.
Van Gaal guided the Red Devils back into Champions League contention during his first season in Manchester, finishing 4th but failing to ever threaten Chelsea’s title challenge.
This season, the club are aiming to re-establish themselves as title contenders; an achievement that has looked far from likely in the two seasons since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure.
Fans and critics alike agree that the 20-time English champions need new faces to compete.
