Man United transfers: Neymar’s agent delivers Red Devils blow
Neymar's agent says the Brazil striker is very happy at Barcelona despite reported interest from Manchester United
Neymar is very happy at Barcelona and won’t be joining Manchester United, says the forward’s agent.
The Brazil international emerged as a surprise transfer target for the Red Devils on Saturday morning after the British media reported interest from the 20-time English champions.
United manager Louis van Gaal has been left frustrated in his hunt for a forward this summer after Pedro Rodriguez completed a move to title rivals Chelsea ahead of the Red Devils.
And Neymar’s agent Wagner Ribeiro insisted the Brazil super star would be staying at the Champions League holders despite transfer speculation.
“There is nothing. He has three years left on his contract,” Ribeiro told GloboEsporte.
“The British newspapers are very speculative. Barcelona have never thought of selling Neymar and he is very happy there.”
Neymar has scored 31 goals in 59 appearances for Barcelona during two seasons at Camp Nou following his £75m switch from Santos in 2013.
Van Gaal has signed World Cup winner Bastian Schweinsteiger, Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, Torini defender Matteo Darmian and Argnetina goalkeeper Sergio Romero so far in the summer transfer window.
