Man United transfers: Paul Scholes wants Zlatan Ibrahimovic signing
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes reckons Louis van Gaal should take a chance on Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Paul Scholes says Manchester United should take a chance on Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic this season.
United manager Louis van Gaal is looking to bolster his attacking options after Wayne Rooney’s subdued start to the Premier League season has resulted in a three-game goal drought.
I wonder if they could take a chance on Ibrahimovic for a year. Maybe he could do something in the Van Persie mould. I don’t care whether he gets on with Van Gaal or not, as long as he scores goals
The Red Devils have been linked with a move for Barcelona striker Neymar over the weekend, whilst England international Harry Kane was thought to be another target.
However, former United midfielder Scholes believes Ibrahimovic could fill the void left by Netherlands international Robin van Persie, who moved to Fenerbahce this summer.
“Centre-forward is a priority because there doesn’t look like there’s enough goals in the team at the moment, from any position,” Scholes told BT Sport.
“You need more than one [striker]. They’ve got Chicharito and young James Wilson, who is a really good player, but last year he didn’t really take his chance when he had the chance to do it.
“They have lost two top centre-forwards in [Radamel] Falcao and Robin van Persie. Okay, so Falcao wasn’t great while he was here, but he has been a top centre-forward, so they need something else.

“I don’t think they need much else. They have good players on the bench, but they need a centre-forward.”
Ibrahimovic has scored 75 goals in 92 Ligue 1 appearances for the French champions during a three-year stay in Paris.
The Sweden international has played for Malmo, Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, AC Milan and PSG during a decorated career.
Ibrahimovic has scored 340 career goals in 618 appearances in all competitions.
