Arsenal club-record signing Mesut Ozil is ready for their big clash against Chelsea in Community Shield
Mesut Ozil savoured the calm before the storm as the Arsenal midfielder trained with his team-mate for the final time ahead of their Community Shield clash against Chelsea on Saturday.
The Gunners are looking to defend their Community Shield crown at Wembley on Sunday after a 3-0 victory over Manchester City sealed their first piece of silverware in the 2014/15 season.
However, Arsenal haven’t beaten Chelsea in their last eight attempts and Arsene Wenger hasn’t guided a Gunner side to victory over Jose Mourinho in 13 games.
But Ozil, who moved to Arsenal from Real Madrid in 2013, took to Instagram to issue something of a rallying cry to his Gunners team-mates ahead of their big game.
Ozil wrote: “The calm before the storm. Last @arsenal training ahead of the big clash on Sunday against Chelsea FC. ⚽⚽ #CommunityShield #YaGunnersYa”
Ozil has scored nine goals in 48 games in the Premier League following his £42.5m move to Arsenal almost two years ago.
However, the World Cup winner is yet to score against Chelsea in four meetings with the Premier League champions.
