Mesut Ozil took to social media to pay tribute to one of his fans’ photo montages of the Arsenal playmaker on Monday.

The Germany international sat out Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon due to a minor knee injury but is clearly keeping upbeat despite his fitness concerns.

Former Real Madrid man Ozil shared the picture above of himself featuring alongside a lion on his personal Instagram account, and wrote: “Awesome picture! 👌 😊 Thanks to @lagvilava7 👍 #Arsenal #YaGunnersYa”

The 26-year-old Ozil has made three Premier League appearances for Arsenal this season and has already notched up one assist for his team-mates.

He will be hoping to have recovered from his knee injury in time to be fit for Arsenal’s next Premier League game against Stoke City at Emirates Stadium on 12 September.

Arsenal have taken seven points from their opening four Premier League games to leave them level on points with Manchester United and Liverpool heading into the international break.
