Erik Lamela is looking forward to the new season with Tottenham Hotspur

Erik Lamela appears to be determined to stay and fight for a first-team place at Tottenham Hotspur this season, if his latest post on social media is anything to go by.

The Argentina international has struggled to live up to his reported £25.7m price-tag since joining Spurs from Roma in the summer of 2013.

The playmaker, who scored two goals and made seven assists in the Premier League last season, has been linked with a transfer away from White Hart Lane in recen days.

However, Lamela joined up with his Spurs team-mates during their pre-season tour of the United States as the north London side gear up for their Premier League opener against Manchester United on Saturday lunchtime.

And the 23-year-old appears to have indicated his desire to stay with the Lilywhites with a post on social media on Wednesday night.

Lamela shared the picture above on his personal Instagram account and wrote: Happy to be part of this team, I’m sure we will have a great year if we trust in us, we can … vamos spurs ! #coys #comeon #spurs”
