Juan Mata admits Manchester United were made to work hard for victory on Saturday
Juan Mata admitted that Manchester United were made to work hard for their victory as Louis van Gaal’s men began their Premier League campaign with a 1-0 win over Tottenham at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils secured victory in their Premier League opener thanks to Kyle Walker’s first-half own goal at Old Trafford.
The 27-year-old Spain international played the full 90 minutes as he helped Van Gaal’s men begin the 2015-16 season with three points.
And the Spaniard took to social media on Saturday night to acknowledge that he and his team-mates had to battle hard to secure the win.
Mata posted the picture above on his personal Instagram account and wrote: “That was a tough game! But always good to start the @premierleague with a victory. Your support at the stadium was fantastic as always. 👏🏻 @manchesterunited”
United were drawn against Club Bruges in the play-off round of the Champions League on Friday as they bid to reach the group stage of the competition.
The Red Devils’ next game is a Premier League trip to Aston Villa on Friday night.
