Arsenal target Karim Benzema trains with his Real Madrid team-mates despite uncertainty surrounding his future

Karim Benzema returned to Real Madrid training on Monday amid continued reports of a move to Arsenal before the summer transfer window closes.

The France international was thought to be nearing a switch to the Gunners last week with some speculation suggesting Arsenal would unveil the striker at The Emirates on Monday night ahead of their clash against Liverpool.

However, Benzema, who moved to Madrid from Lyon under the shadow of Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival in 2009, wasn’t part of the Madrid match-day squad for their goalless draw with Sporting Gijon last night.

But the 27-year-old was in action in first-team training on Monday afternoon ahead of Madrid’s next clash against Real Betis.

Benzema wrote on his Instagram page: “Back to training…. ⚽”

Real Madrid are thought to have placed a £48m price tag on Benzema’s head.

The French striker netted 15 times in 29 appearances in La Liga last season.
