Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho reacts to his match-winning strike in a 1-0 victory over Stoke City

Philippe Coutinho praised his Liverpool team-mates for making a “good start” to the Premier League season after his winner sealed a 1-0 victory at Stoke City.

The Reds left it late to exact revenge on the Potters for their 6-1 drubbing on the final day of last season as Coutinho scored a brilliant long-range strike in the 86th minute.

Liverpool climbed up to fifth in the Premier League table thanks to their narrow win ahead of the visit of newly-promoted Bournemouth at Anfield next weekend.

And Coutinho, who is Liverpool’s reigning player of the year, took to Instagram to post the above photo and react to their vital three points at The Britannia.

Coutinho said: “Good start boys. Keep going.”

The 23-year-old, who moved to Anfield from Inter Milan in 2013, scored five times in 35 Premier League games last season.

Coutinho was named the club’s player of the season for his performances in 2014/15 campaign.
