Liverpool flop Mario Balotelli congratulates Christian Benteke on his first Anfield goal after 1-0 win against Bournemouth
Mario Balotelli has hailed Christian Benteke as a “real predator of the area” after the Liverpool striker scored his first Anfield goal on Monday night.
The 24-year-old made his first Liverpool appearance in front of an expectant Kop and the £32.5m summer signing broke the deadlock in the 29th minute with a prodded finish past Bournemouth goalkeeper Artur Boruc.
Balotelli, meanwhile, has fallen even further down the pecking order following Benteke’s big-money switch from Aston Villa, although the Reds have struggled to find any potential suitors for the Italy international.
And the former AC Milan striker doesn’t appear to be holding a grudge against Benteke after Balotelli took to his Instagram page to congratulate his new team-mate on his dream Anfield debut.
Balotelli wrote: “@christianbenteke25 real predator of the area= bomber!!! Good job guys. @antonyuberti @desmondnze don’t mind my face lol”
Benteke scored 13 times in 28 Premier League games for Villa last season.
Balotelli, who moved to Liverpool from Milan in a £16m deal last summer, managed to score just once in 24 top-flight appearances.
