Liverpool defender Jose Enrique congratulates Mario Balotelli on his loan move to AC Milan
Jose Enrique has congratulated Mario Balotelli on his loan move to AC Milan.
The Italy international completed a temporary switch to the Serie A side from Liverpool on Tuesday after a disappointing 12 months at Anfield.
Balotelli scored just four goals in 26 appearances in all competitions for the Merseyside outfit since his Anfield switch.
And Liverpool defender Enrique, who also faces an uncertain future at the five-time European champions, posted a message of support for Balotelli.
Enrique wrote on his Instagram page: “Good luck my friend @mb459 . All the best and I hope you can show the player you truly are.”
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher welcomed news of Balotelli’s return to Serie A on Monday Night Football after the 25-year-old scored just one goal in the Premier League for the Reds last season.
Carragher said on Sky Sports: “The Balotelli one was a major mistake from the whole club, not just Brendan Rodgers but the transfer committee in bringing him in.
“The quicker he is moved on (the better). They have Benteke and Sturridge coming back. I still can’t believe that they signed him. He hasn’t worked out and he has to move on.
“He is kidding some coaches if he gets a move to AC Milan.”
Balotelli was part of Roberto Mancini’s Premier League-winning Manchester City side in 2013 before he completed a move to Milan.
The Italy international has already played for Inter Milan, City, Milan and Liverpool during a stop-start career so far.
