Juan Mata took his pre-season preparations to a new level on Wednesday – as the Manchester United playmaker kept fit by running up the steps of the stands at Old Trafford.

Louis van Gaal’s side are continuing their preparations for the new campaign as they gear themselves up for their top-flight opener against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

And Mata took the time out from United’s gruelling pre-season preparations to familiarise himself with his Old Trafford surroundings ahead of Saturday’s opener.

Mata posted the picture above on his personal Instagram account on Wednesday afternoon and wrote: “#Ultraboost #BeTheDifference @adidasuk”

Mata has scored 15 goals in 48 Premier League games for the Red Devils after he moved to United from Chelsea a year and a half ago.
