Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney looks to channel his inner lion after a tame start to the Premier League season
Wayne Rooney enjoyed a family day out at a safari park ahead of his side’s clash with Newcastle United this weekend.
The Manchester United and England skipper has been pictured with wife Coleen and children Kai and Klay at Knowsley Safari Park numerous times over the past few years, and took the chance to get up close and personal with a lioness after training today.
In 2011 and then again in 2012, Rooney laughed off damage to his cars courtesy of residents of the park’s monkey enclosure.
Rooney wrote on the photo-sharing app: “Always a good day at the Safari Park 🐅”
Rooney moved to United from Everton in 2004, scoring 230 times for the Red Devils as well as netting 48 times for England – just once fewer than the record set by Bobby Charlton between 1958 and 1970.
The 29-year-old married childhood girlfriend Coleen in 2008, and the couple are expecting a third child in mid-2016.
