Liverpool centre-half Martin Skrtel says the Reds usually win when his dad is sitting in the Anfield stands
Martin Skrtel has lifted the lid on Liverpool’s lucky charm that helped to inspire a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth at Anfield on Monday night.
The Reds secured an important three points as Christian Benteke scored his first goal for the five-time European champions and Skrtel helped the Merseyside outfit keep back-to-back clean sheets.
And the 30-year-old centre-half had a very special guest sitting in the stands to watch Liverpool’s close-fought win against newly-promoted Bournemouth last night.
Skrtel took to his Instagram account to post a photo of his father posing next to the defender’s precious No37 shirt in the Anfield dressing room ahead of kick-off.
Skrtel wrote on the photo-sharing app: “Great 3 points and the other clean sheet as well!!well done boys!!!well done @christianbenteke25 for his first goal at anfield, hope it will be lot more goals in the future mate!glad to had my dad over for the game…when he is at the game wewon almost all the game he was at stadiums,so i think he should come in more often, doesnt he?!”
Liverpool are in third place in the Premier League table after securing successive 1-0 wins against Stoke City and Bournemouth.
The Reds make the tricky trip to top-four rivals Arsenal in their next top-flight outing at Emirates Stadium next Monday night.
