Mesut Ozil took to social media to reflect on Arsenal’s “incredibly intense” goalless draw with Liverpool at Emirates Stadium on Monday night.

The Germany international played the full 90 minutes as Arsene Wenger’s men failed to break down the Merseyside outfit in their third Premier League game.

The result means that Arsenal have now failed to score in both of their opening home Premier League games following their shock 2-0 defeat by West Ham United on the opening weekend of the season.

And Ozil admits that Wenger’s men were put through a stern test by the visitors at Emirates Stadium on Monday evening.

Ozil posted the picture above on his personal Instagram account and wrote: “What an incredibly intense match… Good second half – unfortunately without a winning goal… #AFCvLFC #COYG #Arsenal #BPL”

Arsenal travel to Newcastle United in their next Premier League game on Saturday afternoon as they look to return to winning ways in the top flight.

The Gunners find themselves ninth in the table after their opening three games of the season.
