Matteo Darmian takes to social media to pay tribute to Ander Herrera and Wayne Rooney after Manchester United win

Matteo Darmian took to social media to pay tribute to Ander Herrera and Wayne Rooney after the pair fired Manchester United into the group stage of the Champions League.

Rooney hit a hat-trick and Herrera found the net in the second half as Louis van Gaal’s men ran riot and thrashed Club Brugge 4-0 to complete a 7-1 aggregate victory on Wednesday night.

Darmian, who joined United from Torino earlier this summer, played the full 90 minutes as the Red Devils cruised through into the group stage of Europe’s elite club competition.

And the Italian defender used his personal Instagram account to pay tribute to United’s goal-scorers.

Darmian uploaded the photo above onto the app and wrote: “Great night, great result. Well done @waynerooney and @anderherrera 👏👏👏 #ChampionsLeague @manchesterunited”
