Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard posts a special message for his former club on Instagram ahead of new season
Steven Gerrard has sent a good luck message to Liverpool ahead of the start of the new Premier League season.
The former England captain completed his move to Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy earlier in the summer after the midfielder opted to call time on his Reds career.
Brendan Rodgers has signed eight players since Gerrard left his boyhood club, including £32.5m man Christian Benteke and Brazil international Roberto Firmino.
Liverpool start their campaign with a trip to Britannia Stadium where Gerrard’s Reds career came to an end following a humiliating 6-1 rout by Stoke City in May.
And Gerrard wrote on his Instagram page: “I just wanted to wish the Reds the very best of luck for the season ahead, all my ex team mates and to the new boys that have signed I’m sure it’s going to be an exciting one. I will be watching every match over here that I can. #LFC #YNWA”
Rodgers, who was appointed as Reds boss in 2012, has also signed James Milner, Danny Ings and Adam Bogdan on free transfers this summer.
The Liverpool boss snapped up Southampton defender Nathaniel Clyne, Charlton youngster Joe Gomez and Brazilian youngster Allan Rodriguez de Souza.
