Liverpool signing Roberto Firmino looks to impress manager Brendan Rodgers ahead of Bournemouth clash

Roberto Firmino was all smiles as the Liverpool midfielder trained ahead of the visit of Bournemouth at Anfield on Monday night.

The Brazil international made his Premier League debut for the Reds in the final 10 minutes of their 1-0 win against Stoke City at The Britannia last weekend.

Firmino is Liverpool’s third most-expensive signing after Brendan Rodgers completed the £29m acquisition of the Souhth American playmaker last month.

Christian Benteke, meanwhile, will be hoping to open his Liverpool account against newly-promoted Bournemouth on Merseyside.

The Belgium international impressed on his Reds debut but the 24-year-old striker was unable to test Potters goalkeeper Jack Butland.

Philippe Coutinho, who is the Reds’s reigning player of the year, scored Liverpool’s 86th-minute winner at Britannia Stadium to ensure Rodgers’s side kept pace with their top-four rivals.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat by Aston Villa in their first-ever Premier League game after their promotion.
