Manchester United unveil their new black third kit, to be used in away European fixtures this season
Bastian Schweinsteiger and Juan Mata were among the players to model Manchester United’s new black third kit, manufactured by Adidas.
The Red Devils unveiled the new strip on Thursday after Louis van Gaal’s men booked their place in the group stage of the Champions League thanks to their 4-0 thrashing of Club Brugge on Wednesday night.
The predominantly black kit, which will be used for the away Champions League fixtures, features an orange pop on the three stripes and the same graphic design that has featured on both the home and away kit hem, but this time across the front of the shirt.
Adidas were keen to mark the return to Europe’s premier competition by reintroducing the predominantly black colour scheme, which was first seen in 1993 and has become a staple look for Manchester United ever since.
The shorts use the key graphic taken from the early 1990s shirt famously worn by Ryan Giggs, which fades across.
