Rio Ferdinand defends Arsenal after Roy Keane criticism
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand says former team-mate Roy Keane is out-of-touch
Rio Ferdinand says Roy Keane is “out of touch” after the Manchester United legend accused Arsenal of only caring about “selfies and six-packs”.
The former Republic of Ireland international’s comments were published ahead of Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Chelsea in the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.
Arsenal have now won back-to-back FA Cups and Community Shields at the home of England football, although the Gunners could only manage a third-place finish in the Premier League last season.
And retired England defender Ferdinand defended Arsenal following his former captain’s scathing assessment of some members of the Gunners squad.
Asked about Keane’s comments, Ferdinand replied: “Keano is out of touch.”
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored a first-half winner for the north London side against the Blues at Wembley in the Community Shield.
