Rodgers delivers latest Liverpool update ahead of Arsenal game
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says Jordan Henderson will be assessed ahead of their trip to Emirates Stadium
Brendan Rodgers says Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson will be assessed ahead of their trip to Arsenal on Monday night.
The Reds midfielder was forced off in the early stages of the second half of their 1-0 victory over Bournemouth at Anfield last Monday.
Rodgers revealed in his post-match interview that his skipper had been contending with a foot injury for the past week.
But the Liverpool manager revealed Henderson could still face top-four rivals Arsenal at Emirates Stadium next Monday.
“We are assessing Jordan day by day. He has obviously had the problem with his foot so we will see how it goes over the next 48 hours and take it from there,” Rodgers told the media.
Henderson was named as Liverpool’s permanent captain after Reds legend Steven Gerrard moved to Major League Soccer outfit LA Galaxy earlier this summer.
If the Liverpool midfielder fails to recover in time for their trip to Arsenal, summer signing James Milner will start his first game as Reds captain.
The Merseyside outfit have won their first two games of the Premier League season, although they’ve lost on their last two trips to Emirates Stadium.
