Three signings Arsenal should make before window shuts
Three signings Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger should make before the transfer window shuts
Arsenal need a proven No9 in their squad if they wish to contend for the Premier League title this season. With Yaya Sanogo and Chubba Akpom going on loan, it is the ideal time for Arsenal to get an established striker. Karim Benzema is the ideal candidate for the role. If the correct offer was made, it could see him move from The Bernabeu to the Premier League. Arsenal has expressed a serious interest in the French international and he has bucket loads of talent. A bid in the region of £40m will need to be made for the striker, but it has been reported that Arsenal are prepared to offer the 27-year-old the best wage at the club. Wenger should be determined to get this player as he needs to show Arsenal fans that he means business.
Daniele De Rossi
Daniele Di Rossi has played for Roma throughout his senior career. However, the man is full of skills and quality, which could be of benefit to the Gunners. Arsenal need a versatile player. De Rossi can play holding midfielder or as centre-half. His versatility alone is a good enough reason why Arsenal should sign the Italian before the window shuts. Having made his debut for Roma in 2001, the player may want seek a move to pastures new. De Rossi may find a new experience challenging. In his 147 appearances for Roma, he has scored 22 goals. This is a man who could easily fit into the Arsenal squad and help with their holding midfield issues since the exit of Patrick Viera. De Rossi could be a shining star in Arsenals campaign if they sign him before the deadline.
Raphael Varane is one of the world’s best defenders and he is reportedly available in this summer transfer window. It was reported that Sergio Ramos was on his way to Manchester United, but that deal has seemed to fallen through after the defender signed a new deal with Los Blancos. Arsenal signed young starlet Gabriel Paulista in the January transfer window and he has shown he is capable centr-half. However, Arsenal need another man for their defence with Per Mertesacker getting older and Laurent Koscielny having consistent injury problems in recent seasons. Varane is nothing short of spectacular. Wenger likes French players and Varane would fit like no other. The 21-year-old has plenty of potential and remains a respected talent. He has shown at international level what he is capable of. However, there is plenty of competition for the defender’s signature as Chelsea are reportedly weighing up a £40m.
