Tottenham transfers: Ex-Spurs boss claims Saido Berahino deal done
Harry Rednapp is fully expecting Tottenham to seal a deal to sign Saido Berahino from West Brom this summer
Harry Redknapp is confident that Tottenham Hotspur will be able to push through a deal to sign Saido Berahino from West Bromwich Albion before the close of the current transfer window.
The north London club have been heavily linked with a swoop for the 22-year-old striker in recent days as Mauricio Pochettino looks to bolster his attacking options at White Hart Lane.
Berahino has had two transfer requests turned down by the Baggies in recent days as the player attempts to force through a move to White Hart Lane.
And former Spurs boss Redknapp believes that a deal to bring Berahino to the north London club is already likely to be done behind the scenes.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Redknapp said: “It’s only a game of poker at the moment between Daniel Levy and Jeremy Peace.
“Jeremy Peace holds all the aces in that situation because Tottenham are desperate for a striker – he’s the one they’ve identified, so I think the deal will happen before the deadline.
“Everything’s probably all done with the player behind the scenes, he probably has a good idea about where he’s going to live, even. All it is now is a game of bluff between the two chairmen, who are trying to get the best deal for their clubs.”
Berahino has scored 29 goals in 83 appearances for West Bromwich Albion.
Spurs currently find themselves 16th in the Premier League table after taking just two points from their opening three games.
